Music Magazine - Brief

In this task we have been asked to create the front cover, contents page and double page spread of a music magazine. All the images that we use in the magazine have to be originally our own, we also have to come up with the name of the magazine. On the double page spread we have to make up a story on a made up celebrity that we will be using on as the main image on the front cover.

Production log

Today I looked at my peer feedback and made some changes to my magazine. I decided to make my magazine look more like a RnB magazine. RnB music is very seductive so I decided to change my some of my writing to red. Red connotes sexuality, love and seduction this also can link to RnB music. This is why I made that decision to link to my title which is also red. I also decided to make a lipstick stain kiss as my logo which on the right hand side f every page including the front cover.

Peer feedback - Music Magazine

In the lesson today we were given a task where we had to give feedback on other people's masthead. These are the results that I got from other students in the class. It shows that the majority of the poeople that gave feedback thought that the title linked with the genre that I doing and also that they thought that ith looked professional enough to be on a real magazine. However I did get a 2 from a student in the section where it said "does it employ appropriate media language (conventions) but that could be because of the tiltle and the logo it comes across as a magzine just about love etc. However the student was male and my target audience are mainly females so that could be a reason.

Today I took some pictures of my model. The pictures that I took were for my front cover.

 I didn't use this shot for my front cover because she wasn't looking at the camera. Out of all the RnB magazines I had looked at the majority of them had the model looking directly into the camera to seduce the reader and to draw their attention.

 I decided to use this shot of my model because it was a long shot. I wanted to use a close up of my model so that it would draw my target audience in. This is what I had seen from all the other RnB magazines I looked at. They used close up of the models, this is why I made my model wear make up so that in the close up her face wouldn't be plain.

I decided not to use this picture because she looked too innocent. I wanted the picture on my front cover to be very seductive and tempting so that it linked to my title. I also wanted to have my model in a position that made her look powerful,

Music magazine brief

I have now started to work on my music magazine task. To do this task we have to create a music magazine with a front page, a contents page and a double page spread. We also have to put a minimum of four original picures within the magazine. Before creating our magazine we hade to initial research on other music magazines including the front page, contents page and a double page spread. We have to create a spider diagram of all the ideas that we have for our magazine such as; the name, the story, the colour scheme and the typography etc. To be able to make certain decisions about target audience and other things we had to create a survey asking people things about the music that they are interested in and how they obtain their music.

This is the research that I have done on other RnB magazines with a detailed analysis on all the feature that the front cover has.
